Rest-Stop-Ranch runs on the hearts and hands of our volunteers. By joining our team, you support families living with long-term illness, help develop wheelchair-accessible gardens, and meet guests with kindness and love.
Program Support Volunteers
Work directly with our guests to create a welcoming and engaging environment. Training is provided.
β Memory CafΓ© Host
2nd Saturday (Monthly)
Role: Create a safe, joyful social space for people with dementia and their care partners.
- Greet guests and assist with name tags.
- Facilitate conversation and social connection.
- Assist with set-up and breakdown of refreshments.
π° Thursday Social Assistant
Thursdays (Weekly)
Role: Support our casual weekly gathering for caregivers and care receivers.
- Prepare and serve tea/coffee.
- Provide companionship and a listening ear.
- Ensure the Caretakerβs Cottage is tidy and welcoming.
π€ Rest-Stop-Ranch Ambassador
Flexible (2-5 hours/week)
Role: Connect our sanctuary with local organizations that will benefit from our programs.
- Connect with care facilities, town offices, and local businesses.
- Make organizations aware of our programs and events.
- Distribute printed literature and event calendars.
πΏ Garden Crew Volunteer
On-site (Tue/Thu, 9am – 12pm)
Role: Help maintain our wheelchair-accessible gardens and trails! Training provided on-site.
- Engage with flower care, perennial beds, and lawn maintenance.
- Support sanctuary wildlife through bird care and feeder management.
- Ensure our 2-acre ADA-accessible trail system remains safe and beautiful.

Seasonal Program Dates
Role: Serve as the first point of contact for guests arriving for therapeutic garden time.
- Greet guests and collect attendance information.
- Provide maps and program literature.
- Offer verbal guidance on trail routes and highlights.

Role: Capture the magic of the garden and share it with the world.
- Create engaging posts for Facebook & Instagram.
- Take photos of blooms and events (respecting privacy).
- Help grow our online community.

Role: Secure the resources we need to keep our gates open.
- Research aligned grant opportunities.
- Draft and submit proposals for program funding.
- Track submission deadlines and reporting.
Volunteer Essentials
Requirements
- At least 14 years old.
- Reliable, responsible, and flexible.
- Ability to interact with guests with kindness and patience.
Safety Note: For insurance and safety purposes, volunteers do not provide physical mobility assistance (pushing wheelchairs/transfers). Your role is to guide and support socially.
