Ten girl scouts earned a GARDEN badge for their green vest, 10-22-26, 4pm-5pm, supervised by two group leaders, Alyssa King & Amy Holland. Mary facilitated the small group from Rowley, MA; she included a short history of Rest-Stop-Ranch, an introduction to the tulip bulb, and demonstrated how to plant a tulip bulb. The group planted 30 bulbs in 30 minutes at the Butterfly Zone. After the planting, Mary toured the group around the 0.6 mile wheelchair-friendly trail system, and ended at the warm Caretaker’s Cottage for a wrap-up. The girls and women enjoyed most: “the ramp”… “the tour”… “the accessible tree house”… “the planting”… “the thoughtful design choices”… “all of it!”
We talked about the group returning in the spring to see the tulips in bloom – and to assess the project’s ROI (return on investment).
