I want to say a few words about the benefits of social support when grieving. I’m grateful for the support I’ve received in Syracuse from my godmother, uncle and cousins on my father’s side of the family, and my neighbor Barb and her sister Beth. A few friends North of Boston have also been of great support during this time. My life partner, Karl, is a great support and so is my sweet dog, Miss Honey. The simple power of their presence is a comfort and great help as I move through the many tasks involved with settling my parent’s estate.
I return to Syracuse this next week and will focus on removing contents from the house that I can donate to Good Will. Approaching the project in short doable phases, with the help of family and friends, is helping me to make steady progress with what could easily be overwhelming.
Moving forward with a listening heart,
vision, inquiry, and action,
~ Mary
