How is the Memory Café at Rest.Stop.Ranch different from others in Massachusetts, and the rest of the USA and the world?
We support families impacted by long-term-care,
in an inclusive, friendly, judgement-free, and joy-filled indoor/outdoor environment, once-a-month.
1. We open our home and gardens to host a monthly Sunday Stroll & Memory Café (since 2015).
2. Our wheelchair-accessible gardens offer intimacy with plantings, birds, and fish.
3. Guests are encouraged to do little to nothing, to simply “sit on a bench,” to enjoy respite and recreation.
4. Picnicking, Bird Tales, Fish Tales, Drums & Dancing, and Flower Arranging are optional activities.
5. Guests experience the benefits of Horticultural, Music & Movement, and Art Therapies.
6. Our wheelchair-accessible gardens are inclusive and idyllic for memory-making and photos.
7. A Caretaker’s Cottage provides indoor program and meeting space.
8. A social justice table offers information & referrals; we connect seekers with resources.
9. Spiritual resources offer an opportunity for palliative care and psycho-spiritual healing.
10. Survivors of dementia-caregiving, we listen compassionately to care-givers, -receivers, and survivors.
