We have a bumper crop of red raspberries! This Thursday and Saturday, 6:30am – 8am, you may pick your own free-of-charge. Please bring your own container. Our Raspberry Patch is wheelchair-friendly and pesticide-free. The Raspberry Patch is one of seven garden areas connected by our 0.1 mile wheelchair-accessible path, the MargFMac Front Garden Loop. “Heritage” variety raspberry has thornless canes and is everbearing, meaning, there are two harvest times: July and September. In 2010, we planted fifty plants in memory of my mother Margaret. Raspberries were her favorite summer fruit.
Early morning is the best time for picking because the bees and wasps are still asleep. After this time, sister sun is waking all in the habitat, warming up the air temperature and shining more light on the garden. You may experience this activity as grounding, restorative, contemplative, therapeutic, rewarding and/or inspirational.
Any questions, please call.
Blessed with a bounty,
~ Mary
