Thanks to Karl for the know-how and labor, and two individual donors, Hui Juan and Allen… this past Easter Weekend, we were able work on and finish Phase I of the wheelchair-accessible Cottage Garden perimeter trail (130 ft).  Phase I included:

  1. Ordered Materials: stone dust (10 tons), edging (green hemlock), loam/compost.
  2. Measured and Staked: width of the trail ~ 4′ and 5′ at turns.
  3. Dug/Removed: top grass layer.
  4. Installed: wood edging.
  5. Installed: stone dust top layer.
  6. Compacted: stone dust with feet (later this week with plate compactor).

This will allow guests using wheelchairs, walkers, canes, and strollers to more easily access the perimeter plantings at the Cottage Garden, including Bulbs, Lilacs, Roses, and Lilies.

Flower Festival Days begin this week – Tuesday/Thursdays, 1p-4pm (free of charge). The ‘Bulb Parade’ lasts throughout April. Reserve up to 90 min. online or by phone. Reservations are limited.
