10/9/16 ~ Stroll and Memory Café Summary

Karl Unpacks Mimosa and Dogwood Trees
This past Columbus Day Weekend, Karl and I celebrated our 4th Wedding Anniversary. We will be planting four trees as an Anniversary Planting 2016: Mimosa, Dogwood, Chaste, and Japanese Maple.
We also hosted our final Sunday Stroll and Memory Café of 2016. A rainy Sunday reduced attendance at the 11am – 2pm event to just 3 guests and 2 volunteers. We met at the cozy and warm Caretaker’s Cottage and enjoyed conversations over coffee. One of our guests was a local lay minister, Annette Nicolas, from Marblehead, MA, who leads Cheerful Spirit Prayer Gatherings at local dementia-care assisted living residences. We enjoyed learning about her ministry and the spiritual needs she is helping to meet in our North of Boston communities.
Our ten-foot-long handmade redwood accessible picnic table is nearly delivered and installed. An attempt was made on Friday to deliver it, but because the shipment is 700 pounds, one man alone could not unload it from the truck. He will return sometime soon with more help to unload the shipment. This table is part of the seed-funding we received from MA DDS for our Memory Café.
Reminder: Register This Week with Rolling Ridge Retreat Center, if you are interested in the 1/2 Day Retreat I’m facilitating on Monday, October 24:
Family Caregivers Retreat and Renew
Moving forward with a listening heart,
vision, inquiry, and action,
~ Mary
