Morning Report: Raspberries-a-Plenty

Fresh-picked Raspberries
Fresh-picked Raspberries
I’m checking in briefly from my retreat (including the abstinence from e-communications) because I have great news to share about our raspberries. Any local readers who would like to pick-your-own-berries (free-of-charge) this weekend or next, please call me before heading over (to confirm berry availability).
This year’s crop of raspberries is unlike any other. It’s HUGE. In 2010, we planted 50 double-bearing plants in memory of Margaret, my mom, who loved raspberries. Years past the canes may have yielded at most 10-20 berries per cane. This year, I’m counting up to 50 berries ripening per mature cane (5-10 berries are on newer, baby canes). A conservative estimate, based on these numbers, is that we are witnessing the ripening of 2,500+ berries this year, and there’s no way we can pick-em-all ourselves!
This morning, I enjoyed a few of these fresh-picked berries on top my morning Hot Coconut Flaxseed Cereal — Recipe, Thanks to William Davis, MD, author of “Wheat Belly: Lose the Wheat, Lose the Weight, and Find Your Path Back to Health, p.243.” I recently picked up this 2011 book at a used book store. Perhaps a benefit from my week-long fasting and resting-stopping; Perhaps a benefit from my recent inclusion of coconut milk in my diet (just 1 cup/day); Perhaps a placebo? I’m feeling 1000 percent better in my joints (lower back and hips), I’ve lost 5 pounds this week, and my head is clear and bright. I wanted to share this with you in case you may want to try it too.
Moving forward with a listening heart,
vision, inquiry, and action,
~ Mary
