Restorative Bridge Pose

Start from a position laying down/resting on your back. The restorative bridge pose facilitates the relaxation response within the body, calming the mind, increasing body/mind awareness and the ability to self-soothe when stressed. Contraindications for this pose include recent or chronic shoulder, neck or back injuries or conditions. You will need:
An interruption free quiet area
A clean, comfortable floor surface
A folded blanket or yoga mat to lay down upon
A firm cushion or large book such as a dictionary or telephone book
A small rolled hand towel for neck support
An eye cover
