Rest.Stop.Ranch Morning Report: Mourning while Living

Orange Hyacinths Bloom
I’m still a member of the FTD Boston support group. Once in a while, in addition to the monthly group meeting reminder, they email links to supportive information. Yesterday, I received a link to an article written in 2011 by a woman who reflects on the nature of grief as experienced in degenerative illness:
Read the Article: Mourning a husband who has not yet passed
This morning I received a note from a friend who reflected on the topic of grief after a loved one has passed (she lost her husband a year ago). She wrote about “Grieving group, part two, yes he is really gone.” This is the natural grief experience for us as we reach new plateaus of realizing life without a beloved.
Interesting isn’t it that these expressions of grief are occurring during Holy Week/Passover, celebrated by Christians and Jews worldwide? Questions for personal reflection might include:
– How do I experience and express grief as I journey with a beloved who is nearing death?
– In what ways can I free myself from my emotions that keep me bound?
Moving forward with a listening heart,
vision, inquiry, and action,
~ Mary
