Are you interested in how climate change is impacting our local lilac collection? Are you available once-a-week, Thursday mornings, to volunteer as a citizen scientist (all ages welcome)?
We are asking for volunteers to monitor the life cycles of Lilacs in cooperation with Budburst.org. We have over 60 varieties of Lilacs to choose from. Adopt a lilac plant or two… make observations of and record subtle changes on an easy-to-use app – Record keeping entails photographs and data collection in the BudBurst app for the selected plants on buds bursting, flowers blooming, seed pods ripening and leaves changing color. All can be tracked through the free Budburst app on your smart phone so no paperwork to worry about.
We would love to have your contribution to one of the largest global data sets for the the popular Lilacs that everyone enjoys. Experience the magic of nature and learn more about your chosen plant while you contribute to datasets used in climate research publications. Our volunteers meet Thursday mornings and if there is nothing to record that day we have plenty of other activities to enjoy. We are happy to share cuttings and could use propagation help as well.
