100 Wheelchair-Accessible Roses: Composted!

Monday morning I finished composting 100 wheelchair-accessible roses in the MargFMac Front Garden Loop (0.1 mi.). Each shrub received 2-3 inches of compost. I hope this deters the unwanted Rose Midge… a tiny fly who loves to make a home in rose shrubs and rob them of flowers. We will continue to monitor the leaf growth and prune as needed. This is my organic IPM (Integrated Pest Management) approach. It is more labor than the chemical method, but worth it to save beneficial bees and butterflies.

Hoping by June Rose bloom-time, Corona Virus concerns are reduced, and if the regional Show at the Tower Hill Botanic Garden doesn’t happen, we will host a beautiful Rose Show here at our home.
