February 22 is the birthday anniversary of my mom, Margaret, who passed away from frontotemporal degeneration in 2008. As a tribute to her indomitable spirit and passion for inclusivity (displayed throughout her 36-year career as an elementary music educator, 1963-1999), we built the 0.1 mile wheelchair-accessible MargFMac Front Garden Loop (a crushed-stone path) in 2011. The MargFMac Front Garden Loop provides access to delightful botanical features throughout the growing season, beginning in April and ending in October/November.

Not yet open to the public, Karl and I work each year to make the accessible garden experience available to more individuals, couples, and families in our local area, mainly by personal invitations we extend when we meet people using wheelchairs, walkers, and strollers, and/or their caregivers. We are passionate about offering a botanical outing option for people in our community who consider themselves home-bound.
This winter season we are building a trail-head sign and message board which we will post towards the end of our driveway, near the street, so community members interested in the project can learn more and communicate with us. This organic growth is a response to the interest shown by our community members who, over the last few years, have stopped by to say Hi and have left notes in our mailbox.
Private tours are available by appointment. Contact me anytime from early April to mid-October to arrange a private tour for your self, family or small group.
Moving forward with a listening heart,
vision, inquiry, and action,
~ Mary
