Cut Lilies ~ the Remains of Vole DamageWe haven’t had a problem with voles before this. The evidence began with the systemic digging and eating of crocus bulbs – hundreds – all over the garden. Then, the gayfeather blooms began to fall; roots were munched at the base, and sometimes, the whole plant was eaten. Then, Karl’s beloved lily collection, including these in the photo, got hit: Again, the lilies were cut at the bottom and we saw evidence of root damage. In addition to these attacks, Karl reported his terrible time sowing seeds this year — sunflower, gourd plants, squash — a majority of the seeds were eaten.
We’ve started to trap these thieves, and we’re showing little mercy.
Moving forward with a listening heart,
vision, inquiry, and action,
~ Mary
