Morning Report: Golden Rain Tree – 1st Blossoms

1st Blossoms on Golden Rain Tree, 2016
We planted the Golden Rain Tree in 2010, as a small 3″ twig with no leaves. It was a gift from the Arbor Day Foundation – .01 for ten trees. It’s exciting to see the first six blossoms on this now 12′ tree! The flowers should last for two weeks. Karl believes the Golden Chain Tree has prettier flowers, but none the less thinks these are “nice.”
In 2010, we planted both this Golden Rain Tree and a Golden Chain Tree (which has not yet blossomed). The Golden Rain Tree is estimated to grow to a height of 30′ and will bloom in the late summer/fall, along with the Rose of Sharon. The Golden Chain Tree is estimated to grow 15-18′ tall, and will blossom in the springtime, around the same time as the Wisteria, and will look similar.
Moving forward with a listening heart,
vision, inquiry, and action,
~ Mary
