Morning Report: Stations and Habitat

#4: Mocked, Judged, and Condemned to Die
#4: Mocked, Judged, and Condemned to Die
A cradle-catholic, more spiritual than religious, embracing ecumenical and interfaith truths, I was surprised when Spirit invited me to create stations of the cross around our MargFMac Front Garden Loop last Monday, March 23, during my afternoon contemplative prayer. Not knowing much about this devotion other than the memory when I was a teen, sitting with my mom in our dark, chilly, church sanctuary, Saint Rose of Lima in North Syracuse, NY, on a Good Friday evening, perhaps a couple of times, when we listened to someone read about each station in a way that seemed very distant, muffled, ancient, I was inspired to research this topic anew last week.
My research led me to create fifteen stations of the cross, based on existing models. On Palm Sunday, March 29, Karl assisted me with hanging fifteen small wooden crosses around the MargFMac Front Garden Loop, at stations where I often sit and pray. We consider these crosses temporary place-holders for present practice, that will eventually grow and become expressed in ways we cannot foretell.
The same Sunday, March 29, Karl also created and hung a large wooden box-home for what we hope will be a nesting habitat for barred or screech owls, or perhaps large woodpeckers.
Wishing all-who-practice Jewish-Christian traditions a blessed Holy Week, Passover, and Easter Season,
Moving forward with a listening heart,
vision, inquiry, and action,
~ Mary
