JD is a young man living with paralysis in our community. He was inspired to share about our garden for his Danvers Community Access TV show “Seen + Heard” – a show for the disability community. He recently visited our garden a second time, and he brought his friend, Nick. His first visit was with his wife, Katrina, a few weeks ago.
He shared that his spinal injury occurred when he was 28. Before the injury, he enjoyed many outdoor activities including hiking. He likens the accessible trail experience at our home and gardens to exploring the wild outdoors. He appreciates that he’s not going to get “stuck in the mud,” but rather his 700lb wheelchair, including his 6’4″ self, is totally safe and secure on the paved trail, where the plants meet him.
Many thanks to JD and his friend Nick (drone driver) for videotaping the accessible garden experience from JD’s point of view.
